Broadcast live streaming video on Ustream
I recommend watching the whole thing, but if you don’t have the time or the patience, start at 00:49:00. It gets better and better. It’s not about whether you agree or disagree with everything people are saying. It’s about understanding, but there is a whole lot of truth here. And then even if you can’t empathize, you can sympathize – and then you can support and ideally get involved. If you think this doesn’t affect you because you’re not black or poor, you might want to think harder.
Bella had to leave (you can bet she’ll be back), but there are other livestreamers and posters who will probably start broadcasting and posting later today. Here are their twitter handles:

What an eye opener. This was good and real. I didn’t know.
And now you know. Thanks for watching.
I meant, I knew, but I didn’t realize to what extent. I live in Australia. Thanks for posting.
I assumed that’s what you meant, though it extends much deeper even than that.
I knew you were Australian. I try to check people’s blogs before I reply to them.
The video was an extraordinary situation because of the protest and because those particular voices are usually silenced or marginalized. While it’s not exactly the same situation, I’m sure aboriginals and Maoris would have similar things to say. Of course, you can play back a lot of tape from the 60’s and hear some of the same things, but some things have changed for the worse. Unfortunately and fortunately, we are going to have to replay history again. Also unfortunately, that time has not yet come.
P.S. “If you don’t know, now you know” is from a Notorious B.I.G. song:
(if you didn’t know…)
😉
