i think i’ve heard him say he only really loves a handful of his films. it was interesting to hear what films he thought most fully achieved his original vision. i was surprised stardust memories didn’t make his cut. maybe too derivative (?)…i love everything he did with Gordon Willis.
i have to admit i’m tired of films about rich people and their problems (any film, not just woody’s) – and too often the dialogue of his characters all sound like woody allen. i think crimes and misdemeanors was his last great film, but i’m still glad he’s doing his thing.
